Professional Background

I started out in Primary Education in the early 70's, building a career which culminated in twelve years as a Headteacher. In 2000, I decided to strike out in a new direction.

From 1980, I began to develop an interest in the rôle of computers in education and spent a year on secondment as a Primary IT Adviser to the Local Education authority.

I gained my Headship in 1987 and thoroughly enjoyed the job for many years. Eventually, and inevitably, the bureaucracy and ever-increasing paperwork became a real chore, so I began looking at an alternative career path.

Technology in Education

In January 2000, I left the security of my post and set out as a freelance worker in the field of educational technology.

After a few months, having taken up an Associate Lectureship with the Open University while working a few days each week for a Secondary School/Specialist Language College, I began a new contract with The Ashcombe School in July 2000.

I currently work on a wide range of ICT and web-based projects including the design and maintenance of one the most comprehensive school web sites in the UK.

Other days I usually spend on web sites for other organisations and individuals. I also do occasional consultancy/advisory work for the LEA, Specialist Colleges Trust, etc.
